How can I ensure my group collaboration peer reviews for group work projects (GWPs) are successfully submitted, and what happens if they are not submitted?

Group work projects (GWPs) require peer reviews as part of the grading process to assess group collaboration. Ensuring that your peer reviews are successfully submitted prior to the deadline is critical to avoid grade-related issues.

Important tips for submitting:

  1. You may submit your collaboration grades before the files are uploaded. You will be able to update the collaboration grades until the submission deadline has passed. We recommend this strategy to avoid an incomplete grade for reviews.

  2. If a group member has not contributed to the written report, or if one becomes completely inactive with no response, they should earn 0s for collaboration. Please note that scoring an individual with all 0's will result in a zero score for the entire GWP for them, so make sure they fit the non-contributor criteria when scoring this way.

What happens if I do not submit my peer reviews?

If a peer review is not submitted by the deadline, this could impact individual performance but does not penalize your group members:

  • Effect on the Reviewer: If a student does not submit collaboration grades for their group members, they do not receive any credit for the assignment even if they contributed.

  • Automatic Safeguards for Group Members: Points are automatically awarded to group members who were meant to be reviewed, meaning their grades will not be negatively impacted by an un-submitted review.

What should I do if I forgot to submit my peer reviews before the deadline?

If you missed the deadline to submit your reviews you can reach out to the Help Desk Chatbot. Include the following:

  • Your name, your group number, and which GWP assignment and course this request is related to.

  • State that you need help entering your GWP Peer Reviews after the deadline and note whether you had any non-contributing members.
