Here are the steps to granting collaboration grades for a Group Work Project. At the bottom of this page you will also find some important reminders about GWP collaboration grades.
Accurate evaluation reflects the principles of fairness and accountability in collaborative academic activities.
Important Tips: You can submit these grades at any time before uploading a file for the group project or later, as long as it is before the submission deadline. If a student does not submit collaboration grades for their group members, they do not receive any credit for the assignment even if they contributed, however their peers will not be impacted and will receive full marks for the missing peer evaluation.
1. Click on the module you are working on to expand the dropdown. Then, scroll down to the "Assessments" and click the link for the GWP assignment.
2. On the next page, scroll down until the “Review Members” matrix is visible. This should be right below the gray submission upload box.
3. To grade your group member(s) on their collaboration efforts, select the points (from 0-3) for each of the 4 categories. Once the entire matrix is complete the “Submit” icon will be activated for you to submit the collaboration grades. After clicking the icon to “Submit”, a green box will appear confirming that the “Reviews were successfully submitted”.
Important reminders:
It is essential to evaluate every member's contribution based on their participation and observable actions.
DO NOT give any points to a student who did not contribute to the assignment that was submitted. A non-contributor should receive 0s in all categories. Granting any points for their communication efforts will also award them the group’s content grade for the assignment.
The ability to update/change the collaboration grades for your group members will remain available until the submission deadline.
If you forget to grant collaboration grades, submit a ticket to Student Support using the chatbot. If you fail to submit collaboration grades and do not contact Support for assistance you will see a 0 in the grade book for the GWP assignment.- Ensure that minimal contributors are scored based on the actual level of input and involvement, even if their participation was limited.
If a member receives a score of 0 in all categories, acknowledge them as a non-contributor, ensuring the score aligns accurately with their lack of participation.
Collaboration grades can be submitted even before the group project files are uploaded.
Updates to collaboration grades are permissible anytime before the submission deadline.
Ensure that grades reflect fair and accurate assessments of individual contributions based on the latest available information.- Before finalizing, discuss and collectively review contributions within the group to validate fair assessments and accountability.
